I am a thirty year-old artist from central North Carolina who believes that making theater builds strong communities and makes us better people.
I propose the theater ought to be like church: a moment in which a community can come together to collectively ponder what it means to be a human in this ever-changing world. And, like in the Christian bible, the Torah, the Quran, or the Sutras, the theater ought to have fully embodied characters that cause the audience to reexamine their lives, to be genuinely moved.
I borrow my performance and teaching philosophy from Confucius: “Tell me, and I will forget. Show me, and I may remember. Involve me, and I will understand."
